The “Ökotool Wound Care” app from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) Upper Austria is aimed at Upper Austrian doctors who would like to prescribe wound care products for extramural use for ÖGK patients.
It offers an overview of products for the care of acute and chronic skin wounds that can be prescribed at the ÖGK's expense. The current wound care tariff list is updated through regular updates.
The Ökotool app supports the following search variants:
• Search by dressing material name
• Search by pharmaceutical central number
• Search by product group
The list of results clearly shows the product you are looking for as well as alternatives from the same product group. The list can be limited by specifying the desired product size (small, medium, large) or packaging size (small, medium, large).
The dressing materials are displayed in ascending order according to the ranking in the price comparison. The cheapest products are marked green. If products are marked red in the results list, there is generally no reimbursement of costs.
This also applies to products that are not included in the list.
Combinations of characters indicate whether obtaining an authorization is necessary: If the “Bew” column is empty, the product can be freely prescribed. If “*” is used, approval must be obtained if two packs are prescribed. “CH” stands for subject to approval.
By double-clicking on the product name, additional information is available, for example on the indication or instructions for use.
In addition to the wound care area, the app offers similar functions for the medication area. The basis is the reimbursement code of the Austrian health insurance providers.
